Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Essential Functions of the RoleAs an RN, conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.Building relationships, managing discomfort, staying professional are vital in therapeutic connections with patients and families.Creating care plans reflecting values aids in resolving issues.You will help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly.Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.You'll use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff. Our Labor and Delivery unit is a fast-paced environment that includes high acuity patients. Are you looking to increase your knowledge base? Our Labor and Delivery leadership team fosters an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building every team member.  

Patient Population: Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum  
Patient Ratios: 2:1 
Number of Beds: 7 LDR, 2 OR suites, 3 bed Triage 

Department Specifics: NRP, ACLS, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Lake Pointe in Rowlett, TX is a community-based hospital with all the benefits of an urban medical center due to the specialties we offer to the community which is uncommon for this size facility. We have an extremely large footprint of outpatient services in the community including physical medicine, wound care, sleep center, imaging, and two free-standing Emergency Departments. These outpatient services serve the communities of Rowlett, Forney, Wylie, and many more in the surrounding area. 

 Lake Pointe is licensed for 176 beds which include three medical surgical units, an intensive care unit, Labor & Delivery, New Family Unit, Antepartum, Neonatal Intensive Care, Surgical Services, Cardiac Cath Lab, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, and Emergency Department. The hospital carries multiple designations including Level III Trauma, Chest Pain Accreditation, Primary Stroke Accreditation, Maternal and Level III NICU. Nursing is on their journey towards Pathways to Excellence and will seek Magnet designation once they complete Pathways.
