Facility: UnityPoint – Iowa Methodist Medical Center
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Start Date: January 5, 2026
Shift: Nights, 7p–7a, 4x12 hr shifts (48 hrs/week); may float to other maternity/L&D units
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN to provide exceptional care to mothers and newborns during the birthing process. This role involves monitoring maternal and fetal health, assisting with deliveries, and supporting patients through labor and postpartum recovery.
Key Responsibilities
+ Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process.
+ Monitor vital signs, contractions, and fetal heart rate.
+ Administer medications as ordered and identify complications during labor.
+ Communicate patient condition and needs to physicians and healthcare team.
+ Coach and support mothers during labor and delivery.
+ Provide postpartum care and patient education.
+ Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment; ensure compliance with all standards.
Requirements
+ Current RN license
+ Minimum 1 year recent Labor & Delivery experience (within last 3 years preferred).
+ Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
+ Health certificate, PPD or chest X-ray (if applicable).
+ Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
+ EPIC EMR experience preferred.
Additional Details
+ Unit Info: 45-bed unit, 2 ORs; patient ratios 1:1–2.
+ Specialties: High-risk OB, antepartum, C-sections, vaginal deliveries.
+ Drips: Magnesium, insulin, Pitocin.
+ Hourly Rate: $65/hr.
+ OT Rate: $85
+ Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 of 3 major winter holidays.
+ Floating: Required across campuses.
