Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Critical Care Nurse at St. Francis Medical Center, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease.
Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfortAnticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and familiesGuides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e., CNAs) in caring for patientsMaintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices) Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms with necessaryInitiates emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury)Assists with patient care duties/tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene)Incentives: up to $10,000 sign on bonus, up to $10,000 education assistance (must have graduated within 5 years)

We are a 16 bed ICU that cares for wide variety of critically ill patients with renal, cardiac, pulmonary, neuro, neuro-surgical, endocrine, GI, and surgical conditions. We are a designated stroke center and we care for a diverse population of patients, pulling from multiple areas of the state.
CHI Health St. Francis was established in Grand Island, Nebraska in 1887.
