**Schedule** Monday - Friday day shift hour 8 hours between 7am - 5pm **General Summary** Performs a variety of duties in the operative treatment of surgical patients. Intraoperatively, practices at the direction of the surgeon and does not concurrently function as a scrub nurse. Assesses the patient preoperatively and develops a nursing care plan based on assessment. Assists in positioning, skin preparation and draping of the patient. Uses surgical instruments skillfully in ways consistent with their design and purpose. Evaluates the patient postoperatively and participates in discharge planning. Performs other medical services as required. **Duties and Responsibilities** **Essential Functions:** + Provides primary surgical assistance to the surgeon during the operative procedure. + Assesses the patient preoperatively and develops and communicates a patient plan of care based on assessment. + Assists in positioning, skin preparation, and draping of the patient. + Provides hemostasis, wound exposure, handles tissue appropriately to reduce the potential for injury, sutures tissue, and applies dressings to the wound under the direction of the surgeon. + Uses surgical instruments skillfully in ways consistent with their design and purpose. + Assists in transporting the patient postoperatively. + Communicates information to the post anesthesia care unit. + Communicates information to the family as appropriate. + Evaluates the patient postoperatively and participates in discharge planning. + Variation of duties may result based on the assigned customer care unit(s). This may include differences in the specific clinical skills required of the RN. Unit based skill lists outline expectations beyond the house wide RN requirements. Required or + Bachelors Degree required for anyone who started practicing after January 1, 2020. Required **Work Experience:** + 2 years Perioperative nursing experience in both a scrub and circulating role. Required **Licenses:** + Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or + Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required and + Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and + Certified Perioperative Nurse Upon Hire Required + Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant within 1-1/2 years Preferred and + Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Preferred **Courses and Training:** + Successful completion of an RNFA program that includes a didactic and at least 120 hours of clinical component.
