Caregivers in Lutheran Hospital's Emergency Department provide care to all patient populations, ranging from infants to geriatrics, and ensure that each patient's visit is as comfortable and stress-free as possible. As an RN on this unit, you will care for pre-surgical patients and those requiring antibiotic therapy and wound care, perform advanced dressing changes and assist with bedside thoracentesis and paracentesis procedures while collaborating with fellow caregivers to provide a welcoming, healing and safe environment for all patients. You will focus on enhancing care, helping facilitate a transformative experience for patients of all ages, medical histories and demographics. **This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working 48 hours within a 6-week period on varying shifts between 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Provide direct nursing care. + Implement and monitor patient care plans. + Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions. + Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. + Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs. + Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing + Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross + ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) through American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of hire + Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of hire + **External applicants:** two years of recent related nursing experience + **Internal applicants:** less than two years of experience, but post-orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval + Military RN experience considered Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) **Physical Requirements:** + Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. + Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. + Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. + Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. + Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. + Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. **Pay Range** Minimum hourly: $41.00 Maximum hourly: $41.00 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
