As an Emergency RN at St. John Medical Center in Longview, WA, you’ll play a pivotal role in a collaborative team, all while enjoying the natural beauty and friendly charm of the Pacific Northwest. We currently having the following position available: + Full-time Night shift Emergency RN + Work three 12 hour shifts each week, 7:00pm - 7:30am + 37-bed Emergency Department, a Level III Trauma Center and Certified Stroke Center. St. John Medical Center is a 177-bed acute care facility that offers the intimacy of a community hospital paired with the resources of PeaceHealth, a non-profit mission driven healthcare system. Located just 45 minutes north of Portland, Longview combined with sister city Kelso, are a picturesque community of 60,000, blending natural beauty with a welcoming atmosphere. Current wage range for this position is $50.39 – $74.77, hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of the WSNA collective bargaining agreement. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team. + Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs. + Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards. + Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence. + Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development. + Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program. + May assist with Trauma case review in conjunction with the Trauma registrar and/or Trauma Coordinator + Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications + Graduate of an accredited school/college of nursing + Two years recent Emergency RN experience required, may consider related experience for some of this requirement, or will consider recent completion of emergency nursing training program. + Current Washington Registered Nurse licensure or Multistate License required by date of hire. + Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire. + ACLS Certification required within 6 months of hire. + TNCC and either PALS or ENPC required within one year of hire. + Must demonstrate independent management of cardiac, complex med/surg, pediatric, and trauma patients. Skills + Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required) + Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment. (Required) + Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures. (Required) + Basic computer skills. (Required) Working Conditions Lifting + Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH). + Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures. + Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts). + Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally. + Ability to move around area with frequent sitting. + Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently. + Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently. Environmental Conditions + Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles. + Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment. Mental/Visual + Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
