Fairview Hospital’s Dialysis Unit is an advanced dialysis unit that offers a range of dialysis services, including inpatient hemodialysis, inpatient peritoneal dialysis, and care-based dialysis. Caregivers on this unit use state-of-the-art dialysis technology and follow our ‘patient-first’ methodology to deliver exceptional care to renal patients. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to neonates, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, administering medication and treatments, assessing and coordinating patients’ discharge plans, and monitoring, recording and communicating patients’ condition.

Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. 

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working varying shifts from 6:00 a.m. -- 6:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. with on-call availability and rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide direct patient care to neonates in accordance with established healthcare organization policies, procedures and protocols.

Implement and monitor patient care plans. 

Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate. 

Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. 

Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. 

Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)

Current licensure as Registered Nurse (RN) 

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA)  

Two years of recent related nursing experience OR licensed military RN experience 

Prior dialysis experience

ICU or Med/Surg experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
