RN Clinical Certification Coordinator - Joint/Spine

Summary: The Joint/Spine Clinical Certification Coordinator is a clinical leader providing oversight for the Joint and/or Spine Surgery Program. Responsibilities: 1. Serve as liaison for total joint and/or spine surgical patients, works collaboratively with physicians and other departments of Rex, to help obtain/expedite recommendations from physicians and other health team members for timely and appropriate patient care. 2. Provide education, support, and necessary resources for patients and their families, implementing programmatic changes to assure coordination of care and referrals for needed services. 3. Conducts educational classes in collaboration with outreach programs and participates in community events that explain orthopedic surgical options for shoulder, knee, hip and/or spine disorders. 4. Collects and reports data to monitor and evaluate outcomes and coordinates quality improvement studies to measure outcomes of care. Coordinates reporting of outcomes to Joint Commission. 5. Prepares the multi-disciplinary team for Joint Commission surveys and achievement of certification and/or accreditation. 6. Participates in DHSR, CMS and other Joint Commission surveys and facilitates corrective action plans. 7. Serves as education or problem solving resource for inpatient and outpatient units. 8. Participates in design and management of clinical pathways, including order sets and protocols for in-patients. Collaborates with Service Line Chairs in setting the agenda for service line meetings. 9. Collaborates with the Service Line committees to oversee compliance and program development for both inpatient and outpatient services. 10. Interfaces with the multi-disciplinary health team in adoption of clinical practice guidelines and development of standardized order sets and protocols. 11. Develops vision and strategies for programmatic growth. 12. Collaborates with finance division (patient accounting/billing, bundled payments, cost accounting, access management, strategic planning) to ensure awareness of all program aspects. **Other Information** Other information: **Education Requirements:** ● Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. **Licensure/Certification Requirements:** ● RN NC LIC; BLS Certified Orthopedic Nurse is required within 3 years of role performance. **Professional Experience Requirements:** ● Five (5) years of professional nursing experience. Certification as ONC preferred. **Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:** ● Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret accreditation standards. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of patients and employees. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to coordinate care provided by multiple services.
