Note: Benefits may vary based on position type and/or level **Job Summary** The Chest Pain Center Coordinator RN leads the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, Telemetry, Medical/Surgical Unit, and Intensive Care Unit. This role promotes excellence in cardiac patient care. This position assists in planning, developing, and implementing program goals and operations. It coordinates and oversees the ongoing CQI process to improve cardiac patient care. **Essential Functions of the Role** + Oversees quality improvement initiatives. Assists and recommends protocols for best practice treatment of cardiac patients. Oversees data tracking for cardiac patient throughput. Provides data to the Chest Pain Committee to improve outcomes. Works with the Chest Pain Medical Director to ensure continuity and quality outcomes for cardiac patients. + Directs and coordinates all NCDR Registry functions. This includes data collection, submission, daily quality report issues, outcomes reports review, investigation, and contract management. Assures compliance with the Joint Commission and other regulatory guidelines. + Maintains standards for the Chest Pain Center. Chairs or coordinates the Chest Pain Committee. Assists in developing strategic plans for Cardiology Services growth. + Acts as a resource internally and in the community about educating others on ACS patients. Represents the hospital at local, regional, and national levels related to best practices for ACS patients. Speaks at educational conferences and gets involved with the Society of Chest Pain Centers and Providers. Works closely with Emergency Medical Services to ensure optimal continuity of care, from pre-hospital to hospital. Participates in education, research, and performance improvement activities to enhance and maintain departmental staff's qualifications and performance standards. + Serves as preceptor for new staff, ancillary staff, and students. Unites with Director, Nurse Manager, Nursing Educator, and staff. Identifies and provides opportunities for staff to develop needed skills. Conducts cardiac research studies to facilitate care. Educates nursing and ancillary staff on best practices for ACS and AMI patients. + Develops education for new employees on the facility's mission and vision. This education relates to chest pain patients and chest pain accreditation. + Oversees provision of patient care. Conducts routine rounds on select patient groups. Unites with other departments using an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. Monitors care quality using various methods to find improvement areas. Conducts follow-up calls with discharged cardiac patients. + Serves as a resource for hospital and community education about the chest pain program. Develops effective presentation tools to help identify and interpret cardiac-related data. Works with Marketing to create community outreach and educational programs. **Key Success Factors** + Have at least 3 years of experience in direct care of ACS patients in the ED, Cath Lab, CCU, or Telemetry Units. + Data-based, problem-solving and critical thinking skills set.
