About the Role
University of Maryland Medical Center – Downtown is seeking an experienced Cath Lab RN to support diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures within a high-acuity catheterization lab. The RN will assist with patient preparation, procedural sedation, circulation and scrubbing during cases, and post-procedure recovery. This role requires strong clinical assessment skills, the ability to interpret dysrhythmias, and competency in caring for patients undergoing interventional cardiac procedures.
This assignment supports an immediate need for a Cath Lab RN with at least two years of experience, with three years preferred.
Key Responsibilities
+ Administer patient medications
+ Assist in diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures
+ Circulate and scrub during cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures
+ Perform pre- and post-procedure patient assessments
+ Monitor and document vital signs and sedation levels
+ Identify signs of infection or procedural complications
+ Prepare patients for procedures and ensure accurate consent documentation
+ Provide discharge teaching on procedures, medications, wound care, activity, and lifestyle changes
+ Manage administrative aspects of Cath/EP patient care
+ Maintain accurate computerized documentation
+ Float to specialty sister units and lower-acuity areas as needed
+ Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards
+ Perform additional duties as assigned
Shift Schedule
Shift: Day Shift Hours: 4×10s — 07:00–17:30 Weekends: Every other weekend required Holidays: Required as scheduled Floating: Required within specialty and sister units
Minimum Requirements
+ Active MD RN license
+ BLS and ACLS required
+ CPI preferred
+ Minimum 2 years Cath Lab experience (3 years preferred)
+ Participation in Amergis Competency program (if applicable)
+ Current CPR (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (as required)
+ Current health certificate (per state/contract regulations)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
+ Strong communication skills; English proficiency required
+ Computer proficiency required
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
Compensation Packages
Travel RN Hourly Pay: $36.25 Meals: $602 Housing: $1,050 Estimated Weekly Pay: $3,102
