**UPMC Western Maryland's Emergency Department is looking for a part-time Registered Nurse! Qualified candidates may be offered a generous sign on bonus of $7,500 for experienced RNs, and $5,000 for Graduate Nurses.**
The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and an integral member of the care delivery team. This role sets the standard for high-quality, compassionate care and holds responsibility, authority, and accountability for delivering nursing services. The nurse manages care for a group of patients and their families using independent judgment, strong communication, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
This position embodies leadership, partnership, and mentorship, fostering collaborative relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve optimal outcomes across the continuum of care. The Professional Staff Nurse also demonstrates a strong commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

+ Demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate care based on unit-specific patient populations.

+ 0–2 years of nursing experience required.
+ Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
+ Strong interpersonal skills to build positive, caring relationships with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
+ Effective in managing multiple priorities and working within a complex clinical environment.
+ Proficient in using specialized medical equipment.
+ Sound clinical judgment with strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
+ Physical ability to walk, stand, lift, and reposition patients frequently.
+ Visual and manual dexterity required for patient care tasks.
+ Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, with premium pay options available (minimum 6 months of nursing experience required for special shift programs).
**Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
+ Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of practice or a compact state.
+ UPMC-approved national certification preferred.
+ CPR certification required per AHA standards (must include both didactic and skills demonstration) within 30 days of hire.
+ Graduate Nurses (GNs) must earn their MD RN license within 120 days of graduation.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
