This is a key leadership role within our Tax & Legal Services Risk & Quality (R&Q) team, supporting both our business unit and the firm-wide independence and risk functions. Based in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland, you'll play a critical part in ensuring PwC meets its regulatory and network obligations - bringing a strategic lens to compliance, governance and continuous improvement.
As a Senior Manager or Director, you’ll work closely with the TLS R&Q Leader, local and global teams, and business stakeholders to strengthen risk frameworks, lead technical initiatives, and influence firm-wide risk culture.
Your responsibilities include:
Leading R&Q investigations and providing expert guidance on audit independence and compliance
Preparing and delivering policy updates and training across the NZ firm
Acting as a senior escalation point for complex risk and regulatory matters
Partnering with business and network teams to implement new risk policies and drive innovation
Exploring and applying GenAI solutions to enhance risk and compliance processes
Ngā pūkenga kei a koe / Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you bring:
6+ years’ experience in risk management, independence, or compliance within professional services
Proven leadership in running risk functions or managing policy implementation at scale
Strong report writing, policy interpretation, and root cause analysis capabilities
High level of confidence using web-based systems, Google/Microsoft tools, and GenAI tools such as ChatGPT
Bonus: Deep understanding of audit independence frameworks and professional conduct requirements in New Zealand
