Risk Officer
Job Description

Assist the risk management function to identify, manage and optimise the overall risk profile of the segment thereby contributing to the overall bank risk profile. Will be responsible for embedding a risk culture within the function to drive the desired awareness of risk and strengthen the control environment.Ensure that the various risks impacting the business are tracked and solutions to mitigate the risks are documented.Ensure that risk tools are optimized for management decision making and analyticsEnsure that data quality issues are minimized in the capture and reporting of risk data on material risk reporting systems (Open Pages, Archer)Ensure that reporting to Governance Committees and Group is done timely and of a good standard Provide business with a status on the adequacy and effectiveness of the controls in the risk tools, PRCI & As, KRIs and Incident Reports.Ensuring all admin work is adequately processed in the Operations Risk Function.Ensuring enhanced use of risk reporting templates aligned to Group and Best PracticeCollect and compile data from various business units required for reportingComply with governance in terms of legislative, regulatory and audit requirementsCoordinate monthly Risk and Compliance Forum (RCF) meetings for the department and ensure adherence to the charter, prepare and circulate pack for discussion, perform secretarial duties for department’s RCF.Perform risk-based control testing informed by the PRCIA and methodology as provided by Control Assurance and report identified issues to management and follow through until closure.Facilitate the review and updating of the PRCIA, track and ensure the PRCIAs are reviewed and updated as per review timelines, ensure completeness of PRCIA and alignment to documented and mapped processes.Perform periodical reviews and risk assessments for Processes, facilitate risk assessments for Projects/Products and follow up on the action plans, facilitate vendor risk assessment on Open Pages and identification of critical spreadsheets.Support and guide business with the preparation for and submission of information during audit assessment. Facilitate extensions and closure of audit findings, follow up on outstanding audit issues to ensure completion by due dates.

Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Management, Legal, Accounting or equivalentMinimum of 2-3 years in financial industry with banking experience an advantage
