Risk Mgr, Data Governance, Global Operations Shared Services
Amazon's Global Operations Services & Support (GOSS) Compliance & Data Integrity (CDI) vertical is seeking a highly talented and motivated Risk Manager III to own complex data governance programs within the Enterprise Data Governance & Standards function—a critical team that defines policies, ownership models, validation standards, and quality thresholds that turn operational data into a strategic asset suitable for capital allocation, market entry analysis, and portfolio planning.
A successful candidate for this role will have an established background in risk management, strong technical acumen with data governance frameworks and master data management, experience leveraging AI/ML for data quality validation, along with excellent project management and communication skills. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to operate independently with limited guidance in ambiguous problem spaces, building consensus across Director-level organizations while creating predictable data governance standards and process paths.

Key job responsibilities
• Own and deliver complex data governance programs that span multiple teams or focus on critical data domains (e.g., implementing master data frameworks; building data validation rules for AI-driven decisions; establishing data lineage tracking across operational systems)
• Manage the full lifecycle of initiatives from idea through design, approval, build, launch, iteration, and deprecation
• Find path forward in difficult situations where technical solutions, stakeholder alignment, or resource availability is unclear
• Identify opportunities where data governance automation could unlock business value or remove perceived risk blockers
• Oversee rollout of data governance controls and audits, including testing and measuring effectiveness of data validation mechanisms, data quality rules, and master data management processes
• Balance customer experience against risk management concerns in data governance framework design
• Influence roadmaps, business and technology decisions across CDI functions and partner organizations
• Contribute to risk-related policies and contracts that govern data governance implementation
• Write clear and compelling narratives (6-pagers, PR/FAQs) that explain data governance programs and their business impact
• Present effectively to Directors and VPs on program status, risks, and recommendations
• Drive efficiencies in how data governance is delivered and maintained
• Create predictable controls and process paths that teams can follow independently

About the team
The Compliance & Data Integrity (CDI) vertical under GOSS ensures Amazon's operations are compliant, resilient, and built on trusted data. The Enterprise Data Governance & Standards function is the backbone of data credibility across Operations, defining what good looks like for data—not the systems or business recommendations that rely on it. This function establishes master data governance frameworks for critical entity types with validation rules for AI-driven decisions, preventing AI models from making recommendations based on ungoverned or stale data.
