Amazon is seeking an Operations Team Manager to be part of a centralized Denied Party Screening team (DPS). You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activity of one of the CORE Operations Team, liaise with invested business partners, as required, such as DPS Core Operations, DPS Workforce Management, Global Trade Legal, Compliance Advisory, External Partner Engagement, Subsidiary POC’s & their Legal representatives, DPS Project teams, DPS Tech and Transaction Risk Management.
The DPS Operations Team Manager will assist in the continued activity to further develop the program and oversee the implementation and enhancement of the Sanctions and OFAC Program for all jurisdictions where Amazon operates. You will support the Senior Operations Manager, DPS Operations Senior Leadership, and relevant stakeholders, and will utilize previous sanctions screening knowledge and serve as an SME regarding sanctions and risk compliance operations and track the effectiveness of the Program to comply with the various international sanctions rules and regulations.
Key job responsibilities
• Utilize previous sanctions screening investigations experience to triage and assign ad hoc and manual reviews to appropriately skilled Compliance Specialists
• Utilize previous working knowledge of our DPS systems, policies, and procedures to ensure that the department complies with our internal and external regulatory requirements.
• Identify regulatory compliance risks/concerns and make suggestions to Compliance teams to take corrective actions to implement solutions to improve controls/operations
• Review Core Operations, Business, Compliance, and Legal escalations and utilize sanctions SME knowledge to provide and share analysis
• Monitor and report on daily team production
• Coordinate with the Operations Workforce Management team to validate adherence to workflow assignments
• Participate in weekly calibration with Compliance Operations Investigators, Operations Managers, Operations Risk Process Managers, & Quality Assurance
• Stay connected with the process of investigating cases at the Core and Compliance Operations levels
• Take updates, understand focus areas, and plan actions for the week
• Communicate findings, determinations and recommendations to Operations and Compliance management and business partners, both at periodic intervals and as needed regarding escalated or high-risk compliance issues
• Guide senior management in the development/review of applicable policies, procedures and business practices
• Engage in frequent written and verbal communication with management and business partners to accomplish goals
• Conduct coaching sessions covering performance, QA feedback
• Share development plans and track progress
• Review weekly performance, covering performance against goals, operational headcount oversight, conducts gap analyses and adopts remediation steps
• Support your site for hiring Risk Specialists
• Attend & contribute to the Weekly and Monthly Business Reviews with Workforce and other Operations Managers
• Plan and execute activities that recognize, motivate, and develop your team
