Retirement Benefits Manager

Responsible for managing all aspects and activities related to the execution of the benefit plans design, financial planning and administration of the Company’s health, welfare, wellness, leave, paid time-off and other non-retirement benefit programs. This role also manages the operations of the Belk Benefits Call Center. This includes establishing and revising processes, policies, procedures, internal controls, functional/technical system reviews and improvements. Ensures plans are in compliance with all ERISA and other regulatory requirements.

Compiles & analyzes financial information relating to Nonqualified Benefit PlansProvides operational oversight to the 401k Savings Plan. Includes: a) maintaining accuracy between the record-keeper and payroll system to ensure participant elections and transactions are accounted for properly; b) ensuring that plan provisions relating to loans, required minimum distributions and hardship withdrawals are administered by the record-keeper in adherence to plan; c) coordinating and executing any corrections related to the annual compliance testing work. Ensures that retirement deductions are properly executed as they relate to severance documentsCreates & analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports & ensures financial information has been recorded accurately. Identifies trends & developments in competitive environmentsRecords financial transactions as they relate to qualified and non-qualified retirement programs to the general ledgerPerforms financial forecasting & reconciliation of internal accountsFunctions as liaison between vendors and executivesAdvises executives on eligibility, coverage and other mattersPrepares estimates on non-qualified benefits as requested and upon the executive’s retirement.Maintains plan documentationAssists in plan design & recommendations for benefit plan featuresMust stay knowledgeable of applicable legislative issues and work with ERISA counsel to maintain legal compliance of documentsBills and collects Retiree Medical premiumsCreates open enrollment materialsAssists in auditsReports finances to managementSpecial projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level - Bachelor's Degree

Specific Degree: Accounting/Finance

Required

Specific Training: 40 hours of Continuing Education per year

WORK EXPERIENCE

4-6 years applicable experience - Required

Specific work or project experience: Knowledge of code section 409A - Required
