The Operating General Manager (OGM) is the on-site executive leader fully accountable for the performance, culture, financial health, and day-to-day operation of a family-owned, community-focused sports bar in Verona, Wisconsin.
This role is intentionally designed for a self-directed operator capable of running the business independently under the strategic oversight of a remote ownership group and management company. The OGM serves as the single point of accountability for all outcomes within the four walls of the business.
Core Responsibilities
Business & Financial Ownership
Own overall business performance and operational results
Read, interpret, and explain monthly P&L statements
Provide operational commentary and variance explanations to accounting
Prepare annual operating budgets with ownership oversight
Ensure timely scanning, coding, and submission of invoices
Actively manage labor, food, and beverage costs to defined targets
People & Culture Leadership
Full authority over hiring, scheduling, performance management, and termination
Build, lead, and retain a strong management team
Establish and protect a positive, family-friendly culture
Operations & Guest Experience
Ensure consistent execution of service, food quality, cleanliness, and hospitality
Maintain full compliance with health, safety, alcohol, and labor regulations
Oversee ordering, inventory, and vendor relationships (delegation welcomed)
Leadership & Autonomy
Operate independently with sound judgment and minimal day-to-day oversight
Communicate proactively and professionally with ownership
Identify issues early and propose practical solutions
