The role you'll contribute:
The Lead Therapist is responsible for daily assignments of staff and re-evaluating the staff assignments throughout the shift. The Lead Therapist demonstrates skills and knowledge in the management of all types of patients (acute or chronic) including neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric and will assist with skill competencies, staff education, new hire orientation and other assigned administrative duties. The Lead Therapist must demonstrate leadership ability, sound clinical judgement and professional attributes including organizational, team building and communication skills. The Lead Therapist will adhere to the FLORIDA HOSPITAL Corporate Compliance Plan, to the rules and regulations of all local, state and federal agencies and to the standards of all accrediting bodies. The Lead Therapist actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value you'll bring to the team:
Reports to the Cardiopulmonary Manager/Director. Provides frontline leadership and direct supervision to all staff on shift. May assume management responsibilities in absence of Manager/Director . Supports management decisions in a positive, professional manner.
Supervises the delivery of cardiopulmonary care in accordance with applicable policy and procedure. Ensures the effectiveness of therapist assessment and reassessment by monitoring patient progress. Recommends change in respiratory plan of care according to documented medical necessity and within the confines of established protocols.
Prioritizes, effectively communicates priorities and delegates duties accordingly. Monitors staff productivity. Maintains appropriate shift coverage by calling in and calling off staff. Assigns workload in a fair and equitable manner. Demonstrates and promotes stewardship via prudent use of supplies, equipment, labor and procedures. Ensures completion of work by shifts end, accurate shift report and smooth transition to next shift.
Serves as resource to staff. Trains and instructs cardiopulmonary and other staff. Assesses orientation and competency progress. Supervises student and staff preceptor programs. Rounds regularly with assigned staff. Assists with staff evaluations based on observed skills and behaviors. May serve as BLS, ACLS, PALS and/or NRP instructor.
Maintains a supportive atmosphere conducive to quality care, department growth, staff development and high morale; coaches and councils team members to ensure operational efficiency and optimal patient care. Exhibits and encourages a standard of excellence.
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications :
Must have 5 years hospital experience as RRT or > 8 years as CRT and at least 1-year critical care experience.
Must be a graduate of an approved respiratory care program; Associate degree or equivalent is required. Must be licensed by the State of Florida.
Must be registered (RRT) or certified (CRT) prior to 2000 by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
Current BLS, ACLS.
PALS and/or NRP if required by the incumbents primary EFR hospital.
Must have a valid Florida license issued by the Agency for Healthcare Administration of Florida.
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelors degree is preferred.
Must demonstrate exceptional clinical skills and strong leadership qualities.
