Respiratory Therapist Location: Washington, DC 20032 About the Role The facility is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide respiratory and pulmonary therapy, management, and rehabilitation across diverse patient populations—from infants to the elderly. Under physician direction, the therapist will support patients experiencing acute and chronic breathing difficulties in a high-acuity environment. This role requires strong clinical assessment skills, the ability to interpret physiologic data, and proficiency in managing respiratory equipment and therapeutic interventions. Candidates must have both pediatric NICU and adult ER critical care experience to be considered. This assignment supports an immediate need for an RRT to join a fast-paced clinical team. Key Responsibilities + Adhere to facility policies and procedures + Perform focused interviews to identify patient needs + Assess physiologic and psychosocial changes in patient condition + Assist with diagnosing lung and breathing disorders + Evaluate patients and perform respiratory tests and studies + Determine appropriate therapy and treatment options with physicians + Obtain and analyze physiologic specimens (blood, sputum) + Manage respiratory/pulmonary equipment and devices + Educate patients and families on lung diseases and breathing disorders + Deliver interventions according to care plans and facility standards + Follow emergency, safety, and infection-control procedures + Communicate changes in patient status to nursing, respiratory leadership, and physicians + Support cardiopulmonary rehab, ventilatory support, airway care, and bronchopulmonary hygiene + Maintain accurate documentation and uphold HIPAA standards + Perform additional duties as assigned Shift Schedule Shift: Nights Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM Schedule: 3×12s (36 hours/week) Duration: 9 weeks Weekends/Holidays: As required by facility needs Minimum Requirements + Current Respiratory Therapist Certification or Registration (state-specific) + RRT license required + Pediatric NICU and adult ER critical care experience required + 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required + Current ACLS and BLS + One year of clinical experience preferred + Completion of Amergis Competency program (if applicable) + Current CPR (if applicable) + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (as required) + Current health certificate (per state/contract regulations) + Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements + Successful completion of new-hire training + Strong communication skills; English proficiency required + Computer proficiency required + Must be at least 18 years of age Compensation Packages Local Respiratory Therapist Pay Rate: $62 Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,232 Travel Respiratory Therapist Hourly Pay: $18 Meals: $644 Housing: $1,372 Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,664 Facility Information This Respiratory Therapist role is posted through UHS Fieldglass and supports a high-acuity clinical environment requiring advanced respiratory care skills.
