Description
The Respiratory Therapist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
This position will serve as a member of the pulmonary outpatient clinical team to assess, manage, treat and perform diagnostic evaluations for patients of the pulmonary-sleep medicine and COPD programs. The RT will support outpatient clinic activities and will have oversight over certain readmissions to NMH.
Responsibilities:
Support outpatient clinic visits by performing appropriate tests/assessmentsOxygen titration walksSputum inductionsSpirometryRounds on inpatient admissions with a primary diagnosis of COPD to establish relationship and help coordinate hospital follow-up visits in pulmonary clinicConducts patient assessments and interprets clinical data necessary for the delivery of quality patient careImplements and evaluates the plan of care related to respiratory procedures including but not limited to aerosol, secretion mobilization, and hyperinflation therapiesProvides care for patients requiring ventilator assistance, complex respiratory devices and proceduresCompletes all documentation for patient charting in compliance with standards for accuracy and content as established by the department and NMH
