Cleveland Clinic provides evidence-based clinical care to some of the most critically ill patients in the United States. Caring for adult, pediatric and/or neonatal patient populations, Respiratory Therapy caregivers evaluate, treat and care for patients with a wide range of lung diseases and respiratory disorders, such as asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, emphysema, COPD and lung cancer.  

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Perform respiratory therapy assessment with the guidance of a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Provide basic respiratory therapy modalities to both adult and pediatric patients. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate. Attend in-service education lectures, programs, seminars and other educational opportunities. Complete six months of on-the-job training to become familiar with equipment, develop the ability to perform independently and learn additional responsibilities specific to the institution.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Active enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or on-the-job trainee prior to 1986  After selection and placement into the position, six months of on-the-job training to become familiar with equipment, develop the ability to perform independently and learn additional responsibilities specific to the institution.Current temporary limited permit to practice respiratory care (RCLP-L1) in the State of Ohio  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Prior experience in critical care and/or neonatal/pediatrics Prior experience performing invasive procedures

Physical Requirements:

Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.Normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.May require sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
