Residential Counselor
Location: Freeport|Schedule: Full-Time| Status: Non-Exempt | Salary:$19.83/Hour
The Opportunity
FCA is seeking a Residential Counselor for our transitional independent living program that prepares homeless adolescents and young adults, ages 16-20 for independent living.
Responsibilities
+ Provide informal counseling to residents and assist them in planning and reviewing their contracts and goals as well as providing them with life skills training.
+ Orient new clients to house rules and regulations, and ensure youth have adequate personal care items.
+ Supervise residents with daily activities
+ Perform inside and outside security checks and conduct fire drills.
+ Complete and Maintain necessary paperwork (petty cash, sign out, receipts, logs, resident files, etc)
+ Assume other tasks as needed to ensure the effective operation of the program.
Qualifications
+ High School diploma required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
+ At least one year of experience working with adolescents required.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Basic computer skills with MS Office required.
+ Valid and clean driver's license required.
