About Blue View Builder
Blue View Builder (https://blueviewbuilder.com/) is leading the charge in modular and factory-built housing innovation. They design and deliver high-performance homes that are smarter, faster, and more sustainable. If you're a Residential Architect with a passion for precision and a knack for solving complex challenges, they want you on their team.
Blue View are refining and redefining the construction process. Traditional site-built construction is inefficient, time consuming, and wastes materials. Using modern technology and assembly line style production, they build better quality in less time and usually for less money.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Residential Architect with deep experience in modular and prefab construction to support a growing pipeline of ADUs, custom homes, and residential developments across California. The ideal candidate understands the unique challenges of modular design—including state approvals, factory coordination, transportation constraints, and site-specific engineering—and can work seamlessly through all design, permitting, and construction phases.
As a Residential Architect, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing of modular homes destined for U.S. markets.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Planning Create visually stunning architectural drawings, 3D models, and detailed plan sets for residential modular buildings. Adapt factory-built “standard modules” to site-specific conditions (grading, setbacks, utilities, slopes, soil conditions, etc.). Ensure all designs comply with California Building Code (CBC), Title 24, local zoning requirements, and HCD modular regulations. Technical Expertise Coordinate with sales, structural, civil, MEP, modular factory engineering, and site construction teams. Interpret and integrate factory engineering drawings into full permit-ready plan sets. Prepare site plans, foundation plans, connection details, and utility layouts tailored to modular requirements. Understand off-site fabrication constraints (module dimensions, craning access, transport limitations). Permitting & Compliance Prepare and oversee the submission of permit packages to the appropriate AHJ having oversight. Respond to plan check comments and revise drawings as needed. Communicate with planning departments, HCD, DAA/QAA inspectors, and modular factory engineering teams. Project Coordination Collaborate with internal design teams, project managers, engineers, and builders. Attend calls during California business hours to review changes, coordinate timeline-critical updates, and resolve technical questions. Provide ongoing support during fabrication, site work, and installation phases. Client Communication Work directly with clients / client liaisons to refine design concepts, provide recommendations, and explain modular-specific considerations. Participate in design meetings, review sessions, and milestone presentations.
What the successful candidate will bring:
