Job Summary
The Coordinator of Residence Life I, under general supervision, assists with the administration of aspects of the University Residential Living and Learning Program. Ensure that residence hall operations are efficient and effective in meeting the objectives outlined in the department’s mission and vision statements. Specific operations include being responsive to student needs, facilitating improvements, managing housing assignments, and implementing disciplinary action and learning initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Coordinates the housing application/contact process.
+ Coordinates room/department assignment processes.
+ Organizes and coordinates housing appeals.
+ Facilities managing and enhancing physical aspects of residence halls.
+ Develops, coordinates, and oversees various programs, conferences, trainings, and student/staff development activities, including the first-year experience program and themed housing programs.
+ Aids in the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of Resident Assistants, Hall Directors, and Student Workers.
+ Participates in openings and closings of the halls, including check-in and check-out, breaks, and holidays.
+ Ensures frequent contact with the hall staff for the purpose of exchanging information/ideas, problem solving, advising in regards to working with residents, and other needs.
+ Assists with planning and implementing customer service and student retention initiatives.
Minimum RequirementsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience: One year of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Other RequirementsWork beyond normal office hours and/ or work on weekends.
