The Kun Li Lab researches human respiratory coronaviruses including MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2, studying pathogenesis and evaluating therapeutic candidates. As a Research Technologist, you will participate in the design, organization and performance of daily research project activities for the Li Lab.

A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Participate in daily research project activities. 

Plan, organize, perform and monitor daily project protocols.  

Collect, prepare and maintain required research documentation, including informed consent records, case records, clinical notes and medical reports.  

Report and assist with managing protocol deviations, adverse events and other project-related issues.  

Be responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the lab.  

Order and purchase supplies, gather information on new equipment and recommend purchases.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

High school diploma or GED and four years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment

OR an Associate's degree in laboratory science and three years of experience

OR a Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience

OR a master’s degree and one year of experience 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

Prior research experience in a lab

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

Ability to distinguish color

Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment

Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20  pounds

May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc.
