Responsibilities
The Ivy Brain Tumor Center is currently recruiting a highly skilled lab professional who independently performs and validates advanced laboratory techniques contributes to experimental design and supports the successful execution of research projects.
This role requires initiative attention to detail and the ability to function with minimal supervision. The technician will be expected to train junior lab members maintain laboratory compliance and support the lab’s scientific output and operational efficiency.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
• Independently conducts and analyzes laboratory research experiments and clinical validated assays using established and novel techniques.
• Contributes to research objectives by generating high-quality reproducible data and meeting project timelines.
• Maintains accurate records interprets data and proposes future experiments.
• Communicates findings through internal presentations and national meetings; supports publications and grant submissions.
• Develops and updates SOPs ensures lab compliance and identifies workflow improvements.
• Manages equipment maintenance inventory and vendor relationships; supports cost-effective lab operations.
• Mentors and trains junior team members and promotes a collaborative productive lab environment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (e.g. biology chemistry biomedical sciences).
• 4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory techniques and data analysis.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred:
Six (6) years of prior work experience in a research, clinical, or other scientific environment preferred.
Has knowledge of lab function and oversight.
Ability to contribute technically and continues to make contributions to reviewed research reports.
Ability to contribute to training and educating students, technicians, post doctoral associates and laboratory head if necessary.
Demonstrates an ability to continually improve performance.
Proficient computer skills required.
Proficient with laboratory techniques and basic computer skills preferred.
