Responsibilities
The Electron Microscopy Core is a full-service laboratory providing specialized technical support to physicians, scientists, and researchers. We are seeking a motivated technologist with a background in health sciences to join our team.
The EM Research Technologist provides electron microscopy technical services in support of clinical diagnostic testing and a diverse range of research laboratories. This role involves working with clinical/patient tissue specimens as well as samples submitted by research investigators. The position offers hands-on experience in a highly specialized laboratory environment with opportunities for technical growth and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Our foundation-building position includes, but is not limited to:
Tissue processing, embedding, and ultrathin sectioning
Working safely with chemicals and biohazardous materials
Operating and assisting in the maintenance of specialized laboratory instrumentation
Verifying the accuracy of laboratory records and maintaining thorough, regulatory-compliant documentation
Training will be provided for required laboratory procedures. Additional opportunities may include examining tissues using the electron microscope to identify ultrastructural indicators of disease and reporting to pathologists, researchers, and laboratory personnel.
Expanded responsibilities and advancement opportunities are available based on individual performance, initiative, skill development, and organizational needs.
Qualifications
Requires bachelor's degree in biology or other relevant science. Knowledge of basic histology is preferred. Experience in electron microscopy is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working in a laboratory setting and in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The candidate should be highly organized, able to multitask, and comfortable working closely with others.

Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
The applicant will be expected to acquire technical competency in specific laboratory procedures and consistently follow established laboratory protocols per regulatory requirements. A commitment of three or more years is preferred.
