Responsibilities
The Electron Microscopy (EM) Core is a full-service laboratory providing technical support to physicians, scientists, and researchers both within and outside Mayo Clinic enterprise. We are seeking a motivated technologist with a background in laboratory science to join our team.
The EM Research Technologist will provide electron microscopy technical services in support of a diverse range of research laboratories, scientific projects, and in support of clinical testing.
Key Responsibilities:
The position includes a variety of laboratory-related tasks, including but not limited to:
Required training will be provided within the laboratory.
Additional opportunities within the position may include scoping tissues on the electron microscope for researchers and other laboratory personnel, and in support of clinical testing.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working in a laboratory setting and in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The candidate should be highly organized, able to multitask, and comfortable working closely with others.
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
A strong work ethic and curiosityExcellent recordkeeping, writing, and communication skillsStrong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilitiesThe applicant will be expected to acquire technical competency in specific laboratory procedures and consistently follow established laboratory protocols and regulatory requirements. A commitment of three or more years is preferred.
Qualifications
Requires bachelor's degree in biology or other relevant science. Knowledge of basic histology is preferred. Experience in electron microscopy is highly desirable.
