Job Description
This position is for a full-time research technologist in the Clinical Pathology Laboratory at AbbVie. The laboratory is directed by a Veterinary Clinical Pathologist and performs routine non-clinical testing to assist in the safety assessment of pharmaceuticals being developed to treat human disease.
Job Responsibilities/Qualifications
Operating and maintaining instruments for hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation, and urinalysisInterpreting and troubleshooting quality control results to ensure accurate and precise test resultsPerforming preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of laboratory instrumentationFollowing all policies, procedures and guidelines necessary for Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulatory compliance and in accordance with CLIA and CLSIUsing a validated computer system to receive and process orders, and provide test results Participating in CAP proficiency surveysDeveloping and updating standard operating procedures (SOP)sDesigning and implementing procedures for instrument qualification and method validation Completing all mandatory internal training and following implemented health and safety requirementsCompleting additional training to develop competency in new methods as they are implementedStanding, sitting, lifting up to 40lbs (on occasion), pipetting and other general lab tasksQualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Relevant laboratory experience and knowledge demonstrated through:
B.S./B.A. in medical technology or related field, with 3+ years of relevant experience OR Master’s Degree or equivalent education (no additional experience)Preferred Qualifications
MT (ASCP), CLS or AMT certification is strongly preferred3+ years of experience within a clinical pathology laboratory within a pharmaceutical company, CRO, hospital or diagnostic company.Knowledge of laboratory informatics systems, flow cytometry or plate based assays.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
