The O’Brien Lab in the Department of Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine seeks a full-time **_Research Technologist._** The candidate will support the lab with general day-to-day activities, including ordering, cell/tissue culture and maintenance, biochemistry, molecular biology, and protein purification. While this is a support position, the candidate will have training opportunities. Our lab is a membrane protein biochemistry and biophysics lab, focusing on G-protein coupled receptor structural biology, dynamics, and drug discovery. The candidate will have a particular focus in supporting the lab’s work on expressing and purifying human GPCRs. The candidate should have prior lab experience and be familiar with standard lab techniques, including + Aseptic Technique + Cell Culture (bacterial, insect, mammalian) + Molecular Cloning (PCR) + Biochemistry (Gels, western blot) + Protein Purification + Computer Literacy **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** + Lab maintenance and organization + Setting up equipment + Ordering + Buffer and reagent preparation + Cell culture maintenance + Cloning (PCR) + Protein purification + Collect and analyze data as needed. **Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field. + Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond High School Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. **Preferred Qualifications** + Some related post-undergraduate work experience is preferred.
