The Cohn lab, within the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, is recruiting a Research Technician whose main focus will be HIV cure research projects. This candidate will work directly with the principal investigator and other lab members to perform and analyze experiments using primary human samples to investigate HIV persistence.

Nucleic acid isolation from plasma, PBMCs, and tissue samplesAnalysis of HIV sequence by PCR and next-generation sequencingSequencing library preparation (Illumina and PacBio)Tissue culture of primary human cellsMulti-parameter flow cytometry-based analysis of human samplesCollect, analyze, interpret, and report on experimental resultsMaintain thorough and detailed experimental records QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school courseworkPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience in cell subset isolation from peripheral bloodPrior experience in multi-parametric flow-cytometric phenotyping of human samples, particularly FACS sorting and analysis using FlowJoPrior experience in computational analysis using R/Python/equivalent, or willingness to learnFamiliarity with biosafety 2 and 2/3 laboratory practices and bloodborne pathogen preventions Comfortability in working with rare and valuable primary human biologic specimensCompetency in basic tissue culture, molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qPCR and gel electrophoresis, and a familiarity with current HIV understanding. The candidate must be detail oriented, well-organized, self-motivated, and able to efficiently manage time and experiments.Strong communication skillsResearch Technician I: The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.87 to $32.56 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
Research Technician II: The hourly pay range for this position is from $26.48 to $37.70 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
