A full-time Research Technician I is needed in a laboratory within our Translational Science & Therapeutics Division that aims to comprehensively study human lung cancer in a translational cancer research laboratory. The selected applicant will assist other laboratory staff in the collection of various human samples, maintenance of the biorepository performance of experiments with these samples at the bench, routine laboratory maintenance, and specimen processing. Basic experience in the performance of PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, sequencing, developing cell and protein assays, cell culture, and handling of laboratory animals is essential.
ResponsibilitiesThe technician works under the direction of the Principal Investigator or higher-level laboratory personnel. They use limited discretion and judgment in carrying out experiments.
Perform experiments at the bench level to support investigative workPrepare and maintain laboratory reagents, stocks, cultures or cell linesAcquire human tissue specimens at various sites within the UW/Fred Hutch systemPerform and modify documented protocols and assaysMaintain laboratory records and compile data on experiments and assaysInterpret and report on experimental resultsPerform statistical analysis of test results and prepare written reports on work performedInteract with various Hutch cores (processing, genomics, flow etc) to coordinate experimentsOperate and carry out basic maintenance of laboratory equipmentOrder and maintain appropriate levels of suppliesPerform other duties as required QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experienceDemonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of studyDemonstrated basic laboratory skillsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with flow cytometryExperience handling miceExperience with specimen processingThe hourly pay range for this position is from $22.87 to $32.56 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
