Research Technician

We are a multidisciplinary research group using chemical biology, biochemistry, cell biology and proteomics approaches to understand the coordination of protein interactions. We are interested in studying fundamental mechanisms of cellular protein quality control, the molecular basis of human protein misfolding diseases, and new chemical biology approaches to treat these defects. The successful applicant must be self-motivated, extremely well-organized, able to communicate clearly, and work effectively in a team of researchers. Previous research experience and college-level courses in biochemistry, chemical biology, and bioanalytical chemistry are strongly preferred. Experience with relevant techniques, in particular knowledge of basic principles of mass spectrometry or bioinformatics, is advantageous but not required.

About the Work Unit:

We are a young and vibrant research team dedicated to understanding fundamental biological processes. We offer a highly collaborative, supportive, and inclusive work environment. This position would be a wonderful opportunity for a recent graduate to gain further research experience prior to pursuing a graduate degree. We will, however, consider highly motivated applicants at all levels.

Prior experience performing laboratory research is necessary. Experience with basic molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (PCR, Western blotting, immunoprecipitation), and ability to perform basic lab calculations (buffer concentrations, dilutions, etc.) is required. Experience working with human cell culture is preferred. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and organization is required. Ability to work with others in a mutually respectful environment that values honesty, integrity and accountability is necessary.
