Assist in Research and Development
Preparation of buffers and reagents
Writing and updating laboratory protocols
Production of DNA vectors for protein expression
Overexpression and purification of proteins from bacterial and insect cells for biophysical characterization
Use biophysical methods to characterize interactions of proteins
Use microscopy approach to characterize cellular phenomena and biochemical reactions
Writing and updating laboratory protocols
Collecting and assembling research data for presentation and/or reports
Participating in weekly meetings to discuss project progress
Lab space maintenance
Assists with orders and maintenance of inventory and supplies
Other tasks as directed by the supervisor
Supervisory Relationships:No supervisory responsibilities
The position reports administratively and functionally to the PI.
Education and Certifications:A Bachelor’s degree in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education is necessary.Experience and Skills:Ability to perform all basic calculations related to buffer composition (Molarity, dilution factor, etc.) is necessary.Ability to be organized, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and show great attention to detail is necessary.
