**_The Phase 1 Program_** ( https://www.fredhutch.org/en/patient-care/treatments/phase1-program.html ) **within the** **_Division of Hematology and Oncology_** **has an outstanding opportunity for a** **_Temporary_** **Research Assistant- Research/Data** **located at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.** Under the general direction and supervision of the Phase 1 Senior Research Data Manager, this position facilitates investigator-initiated and pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical trials and implementing multiple research, data and administrative projects. This position must be able to support various staff and upper management (Data Research Manager, Phase 1 Associate Director and Principal PI) at any given time.
The division is made up of 11 hematology and oncology disease programs and multiple labs, conducting basic, translational, and clinical research. At any given time, the division has over 150 open clinical trials with over 2,300 enrollees, which generate critical research funding and discovery mechanisms as well as bringing much-needed investigational treatments to hematologic and oncology patients with few or no other options. The Phase 1 Clinical Trials Program at the University of Washington focuses on testing promising new cancer therapies in humans for the first time. It includes patients with advanced disease who have exhausted standard treatments and aims to determine safe dosing, delivery methods, and early signs of effectiveness. The program brings together expert researchers and clinicians to closely monitor participants and gather critical data that may benefit future patients.
**Position Responsibilities:**
**Protocol Coordination - 30%**
+ Serve as liaison between faculty and clinic staff and coordinate faculty scheduling with clinic and research staff.
+ Provide support with independently maintain and track laboratory sample supplies, complete requisition forms, and assemble kits for upcoming research subject visits for assigned clinical trials and provide courier support for Phase 1 Lab.
+ Complete in-clinic tasks including, but not limited to, collection of biological samples during biopsies, performing ECGs on patients per protocol, placement and collection of Holter Monitor.
+ Assist data coordinators with shipping of biological samples, complete archival tissue requests, and initiate NWBT accounts for new studies.
+ Delivery and transmittal of important/urgent documents.
+ Coordinate team wellness/team spirit and staff and team members appreciation events, including preparation of research teams slide presentations.
+ Coordinate educational speakers/UW POD presentations for the Phase 1 Research team.
+ Provide IT Support (contact IT Helpdesk, including computer troubleshooting, software installation)
+ Order Phase 1 swag as requested and assist with program marketing, advertising, and social media needs.
+ Perform related tasks as assigned; Other projects and duties as needed.
**Research Program Coordination - 30%**
+ Coordinate and complete required research documents for program meetings, study meetings with sponsors, study monitor meetings with PI and team members.
+ Assist with maintaining and tracking study-specific information and patient accrual on clinical trials using OnCore CTMS for preparing meeting agendas.
+ Prepare and email bi-monthly enrollment updates for Investigators and departments.
+ Assist managers with study start-up forms and questionnaires as needed.
+ Archive completed research projects for long-term storage and assist with tracking/maintaining log of archived materials.
+ Obtain faculty/PI e-signatures for important clinical trial documents as needed.
+ Assist with projects assigned by Associate Director and Phase 1 Team Managers (Data, Research, etc.).
+ Assist with Phase 1 meeting agendas and minutes modifications as directed by manager for Phase 1 Program study status/overview meetings.
**Administrative - 20%**
+ Assist with general files organization and archiving, recording and routing documents and reports for signatures.
+ Collate and establish study-specific research and reference binders.
+ Manage, sort, and distribute incoming/outgoing mail and faxes. Follow study specific guidelines for collection, labeling, and/or shipping.
+ Schedule and document meetings.
+ Check voicemails and route messages appropriately.
+ Handle Outlook shared accounts email correspondence.
+ Delivery and transmittal of important/urgent documents.
**Data Coordination, Abstraction and Analysis - 20%**
+ Complete data entry and document management in OnCore Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS)
+ Gathering data for various reports i.e., Continuing Review.
+ Collaborate with the Data Coordinator team and assist with projects as needed
+ Resolve and answer data queries with minimal errors.
+ Work independently to obtain, abstract, code and enter complex clinical information from multiple sources (medical records, research records, etc.) for research subjects into various study-specific electronic data-capture systems.
+ Make independent judgments about the relevance of the clinical data to the research.
+ Work with Research Coordinators to develop study-specific data acquisition forms.
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Two years of college-level course work in a relevant academic area AND one year of appropriate experience.
_Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration._
**Desired Qualifications:**
+ BA or BS degree
+ Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medical abbreviations
+ Experience with OneNote, Competency in Microsoft Applications, and Adobe Acrobat
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Outstanding attention to detail and problem-solving skills
+ Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
+ Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism
+ Excellent Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel skills
+ Must be a fast learner, enthusiastic, and motivated.
**Working Conditions:**
This position is located in a clinical and research environment that is located at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center campus.

$44,256.00 annual
