Research Specialist, Department of Neurology

The Department of Neurology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Research Specialist to join the Epilepsy Division. Under the guidance of dedicated epilepsy faculty, the Research Specialist will gain valuable experience by leading innovative clinical projects aligned with their interests, while also contributing to ongoing research initiatives. 

 

The incumbent will collaborate and take a primary role in conducting research projects encompassing Neurology, dementia, and epilepsy related work. Projects could span a variety of research disciplines, including retrospective and prospective clinical research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, population-based database mining, and innovative product development. The incumbent will have the opportunity to complete projects already in progress, but when possible will oversee projects from initiation to completion. A minimum two-year commitment is highly preferred. 

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in clinical research within neurology, with prior experience in experimental design, data assessment/interpretation, scientific presentation, and scholarly writing. 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

Education: Bachelor's degree in related field 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

Master’s degree, MD, or PhD preferred If MD, should have completed Step 1 exam Prior clinical research experience and publication record  

 

Physical Demands 

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. 

 

Position Type & Work Location 

This is a non-exempt-level, benefited position. Learn more about UVA benefits. This is a restricted position, which is dependent on funding and is contingent upon funding availability. This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site.
