Summary:
The Research Scientist, Patient Insights Research (PIR) will act as Principal Investigator for patient insights research projects within Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Patient-Centered Research (PCR) team. The Patient Insights Research team develops, commercializes and delivers best-in-class qualitative and quantitative research with patient and healthcare providers to patient-centric drug development across therapeutic areas and for a wide range of clients. This includes patient, caregiver, and provider insight on treatment and disease experience, unmet needs, clinical trial design, and patient support services. The team draws on many research methods, such as landscape review, concept elicitation, cognitive debriefing, advisory boards, focus groups, surveys and thematic or content analysis. The successful candidate will report into the PIR Pillar Lead and work closely with other team members, such as project managers, researchers, and business development.
Essential Functions:
Apply qualitative and quantitative research expertise to the design and execution of fit for purpose patient and provider insights studiesContribute to patient experience and insights thought leadership through conference presentations and publicationSupport response to client RFPs, including managing existing scientific resources as well as identification of additional resource needs (i.e. recruitment oversight), and developing proposals and budgetSupport staff management including interviewing and selection, professional development, goal setting, performance management and other tasks associated with staff functionsDevelop and build long-lasting client relationships by providing advice on patient insights strategy and appropriate scientific solutionsKnowledge, Skills and Ability:
Proven leadership in applied qualitative and quantitative research in patient and provider insights with a passion for quality and continuous scientific innovationAbility to attract, develop and retain scientific talent through leadership and mentoringExperience in consulting with a passion for understanding and addressing client needs with carefully selected scientific solutionsDemonstrated ability to delegate effectivelyAdvanced understanding of project scoping, budgeting and forecasting with the ability to interpret data with attention to detailStrong interpersonal, organizational, communication and staff management skills and experience required.Tact and sensitivity in matters relating to confidential materialAbility to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.Fluent in written and oral EnglishEducation and Experience:
Master’s Degree or higher with 10 years of experience in the field, including publication and at least 3 years of management experience.
