This role will contribute to the effective operation of maize transformation pipeline and support trait research and product development goals
Accountabilities
• Provide scientific expertise and support transgenic event generation pipeline efforts required to deliver business objectives defined by a research program, function, or supervisor.
• Responsible for process improvement and new capability development including maize genetic transformation and precision genome engineering.
• Lead to design and execute complex experiments to generate scientific/technical data alone or working with scientists in group.
• Follow existing processes, procedures and systems to independently design and execute complex experiments
• Proactively initiate and implement improvements to established protocols or systems to improve function capability and efficiency in consultation with supervisor
• Maintain accurate experimental records and enter data into databases strictly following Syngenta policy and guideline
• Actively contribute to process improvement and integration of new technologies.
• Provide subject matter guidance to other team members and uses existing procedures to solve process problems or bottlenecks.

Qualifications
• A minimum of a Masters degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience or a Ph.D. degree with at least 1 year of postdoc experience.
• Experience in plant tissue culture and plant transformation. Strong preference for candidates with field crop transformation experience.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship support from Syngenta.
Preferred Qualifications
• Expertise in developing and improving plant transformation methods and protocols.
• Experience working with genome editing in plant cells.
• Track record of delivering research and innovation through journal publications and/or patent applications.
