Duties Description Reporting to the Unit Director, a Research Scientist 4 (G27), the incumbent of this position will lead research, surveillance, and evaluation efforts in the New York State Asthma Control Program (NYSACP)'s Office of Science unit. They will be responsible for the development of epidemiological, surveillance, and evaluation activities including the development of the research agenda for the NYSACP, assessments of core and additional data sources, selection, and development of indicators for analyses, maintaining and expanding interactive dashboard, and development and implementation of analysis and evaluation pians to monitor progress and policy impact to support major state initiatives including the Housing and Health Equity for Asthma State of the State initiative.
Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in biology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Infection Control, Statistics/Biostatistics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a related degree. and four years of professional scientific research experience in a related field. **Substitutions: master’s degree in Biology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Infection Control, Statistics/Biostatistics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related degree may substitute for one year of experience, and Doctorate or Ph.D. in Biology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Infection Control, Statistics/Biostatistics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related degree may substitute for an additional year of experience.Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Public Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or a related field and four years of experience in public health research, surveillance or evaluation; or a doctorate in Public Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or related field and two years of experience in public health research, surveillance or evaluation; experience in grant application development and management. Proficiency in data analysis, database and statistical software, interpretation, and dissemination of data for varied audiences. Experience with analyzing large public health data. Intermediate or advanced proficiency using SAS including proficient use of SAS BASE, SQL, GRAPH, STAT, ODS, MACRO, Tableau. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
