Summary

The Department of Radiation Oncology Research is seeking a dedicated Research Project Specialist Sr. to manage and support a broad portfolio of translational research projects led by our radiation oncology faculty. This role focuses on comprehensive data management, including the creation and maintenance of longitudinal databases, advanced data analysis, and reporting to drive impactful research outcomes. The Specialist will work closely with faculty and the Manager of Radiation Oncology Research to identify data-driven opportunities, address evolving research needs, and strengthen departmental support services.

Key responsibilities include overseeing project timelines and resources, ensuring compliance with regulatory and data privacy standards, and fostering effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in translating laboratory discoveries into clinical applications, ultimately contributing to improved patient care and advancing the field of radiation oncology.

 

Position Highlights:

We encourage innovation and creativity to advance the Radiation Oncology Translational Research Division with a Research Project Specialist Sr. who can think outside the box and take the initiative to implement solutions and facilitate the operation for the faculty.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

Strong data management skills with excellent proficiency in overall computer applications. Proven experience in data analysis, preferably with large and complex datasets. Ability to design, create, and maintain robust databases. Proficiency in coding and statistical software, particularly R; familiarity with Python or SQL is a plus. Experience in research, clinical research, or related fields. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively present data insights and collaborate with faculty within Rad Onc Department. Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Knowledge of data privacy and security best practices. Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to troubleshooting data-related issues.

 

Responsibilities:

Collaborate closely with faculty and research teams to conduct data analysis and generate professional reports that support decision-making. Design, create, modify, and maintain longitudinal databases for research studies within the department, ensuring data accuracy and consistency. Work closely with the Manager of Radiation Oncology Research to identify new opportunities for data-driven insights, address faculty needs and contribute to the continuous growth and enhancement of departmental research support. Assist in developing data collection protocols and ensure compliance with research standards and data privacy regulations. Provide technical support to faculty for grant applications, research proposals, and all research-related activities. Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, ensuring timely resolution to minimize disruption. Prepare data visualizations and presentations to communicate findings effectively to faculty, research team and other collaborators.

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required; Master's with a minimum 3 years of relevant experience preferred. Hands-on experience necessary, along with experience in the use of basic office equipment, computers, and MS Office software environment.
