Research Program Assistant - #Staff
We are seeking a **_Research Program Assistant_** to work in the Research Lab managed by Dr. Jun Luo. This position will support a variety of ongoing basic, clinical, and translational research projects pertaining to prostate cancer genetics. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who can thrive in a fast-paced laboratory environment and effectively plan and execute lab tasks. The Research Program Assistant will serve as the key technician to organize and handle specimens and associated data for reporting purposes and provide support to PhD-level scientists in executing routine laboratory tasks. The Research Program Assistant will conduct day-to-day duties by completing laboratory tasks and routine assays, following established protocols and procedures. It is expected that the Research Program Assistant will be able to apply basic scientific knowledge to learn the techniques and methods used in the lab. After receiving sufficient training, the Research Program Assistant should be able to work independently in completing standard day-to-day activities. **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** + Coordinates the day-to-day operations of Dr. Luo’s laboratory with an emphasis on coordinating among the lab members and the broader research group. + Organize and conduct day-to-day duties through the completion of laboratory tasks and routine assays following common or established protocols and procedures. After receiving sufficient training, the Research Program Assistant is expected to work independently in completing standard day-to-day activities. + Dedicate time and be responsible for specimen organization, quality control, and learn to use relational database concepts to link data sets. + Lab activity planning, inclusive of, but not limited to, organizing regular lab meetings between the team and management related to educational courses, assisting with planning meetings and seminars, and ensuring AV set-up and readiness. + Organize web lab tasks, working alongside other senior lab members. Following training, assist with cell culture, PCR, Western Blot, and other routine wet lab procedures. + Assist the lab in maintaining lab supplies and safety standards for lab inspections, coordinating with department administration to ensure compliance. + Assist with visiting company demos, including providing directions, coordinating schedules, and other planning tasks. + Other lab tasks for the daily operations of Dr. Luo’s lab. **Minimum Qualifications** + High School Diploma or graduation equivalent, with some college courses preferred. + Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. **Preferred Qualifications** + Prior activity planning experience preferred but not required. + Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required. Classified Title: Research Program Assistant Role/Level/Range: ACRO40/E/02/CB Starting Salary Range: $15.40- $23.25 HRLY ($19.30/hour targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
