Job Summary

Seeking an experienced oncology RN for this 22-chair clinical trials research unit specializing in first-in-human, Phase 1 Clinical trials. If you want to be on the cutting edge of discovering new cancer therapies, Termeer is a wonderful place to work. Nurses are supported by a strong Resource Nurse team and a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Scientist and a Nurse Director. Patients in the Termeer Center are cared for by an expert team of research and infusion nurses. Patients are matched with a primary nurse team who get to know the patients and their family well. This nursing team establishes a trusting relationship and usher patients through each visit with expert care, symptom management, education and advocacy. Staffing levels allow nurses the time to do meticulous data collection as well as build strong patient relationships. Since its founding in 2012, Termeer has been instrumental in bringing 26 new cancer drugs to FDA approval.

New Team members comment about the great teamwork and support they receive from colleagues during and after orientation. Even experienced oncology nurses who start in Termeer are given a robust orientation to clinical trial work. Opportunities to advance your practice include Resource Nurse to manage the day-to-day activities, precepting, unit-based practice improvement projects, presenting posters at conferences, publishing, the Clinical Recognition Program/Clinical Ladder.

Supportive Nursing Leadership, competitive pay and great benefits!The Termeer Center is a 22-chair, state of the art, First in Human Oncology Clinical Trials Unit in the outpatient setting at the MGH Cancer Center.If you want to be on the cutting edge of discovering new cancer therapies, Termeer is a wonderful place to workThe oncology practices within the Division of Hematology and Oncology refer adult cancer patients to The Termeer Center for treatment on Phase 1 research drugs. The hours are 4 ten-hour shifts, M-F, 7am-5:30pm, set schedule with possibility of one remote day.The Clinical Trials Unit has a strong commitment to primary nursing. Phase 1 Research Nurses are responsible for screening and enrolling patients for trials, patient education, triage phone support for patients in between treatment visits, symptom management, expert knowledge of protocols, meticulous documentation, and strong advocacy for patients while they are on trialPhase 1 Research nurses work closely with Infusion RNs, APPs and Physicians in Termeer to support patients on clinical trials and to meticulously adhere to the protocol. Research RNs support the organizational mission and the Cancer Center investment in clinical research and making clinical trials accessible to more patients from diverse and underserved communities.Managed by a Nursing Director, a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Resource Nurses, this team is responsible for establishing standards of care, initiating quality improvement projects, and setting and supporting the overall tone for excellent patient care.Acts as a resource to the multi-disciplinary care team related to protocol specifications such as administration guidelines for investigational agents.Documents research nurse encounters in the medical record including patient education, required protocol assessments, oral study drug adherence, protocol deviations, phone encounters and follow-up.
