Research Nurse, Residency Program - Spring 2026
The ideal candidate will be an upcoming, or recent graduate (within 12 months), from an accredited ADN or BSN program, and be a licensed RN in the state of Texas one week prior to the assigned program start date. Start date will be March 16, 2026 .

This position will work the day shift between the hours of 7am-5pm and is a hybrid role (remote and onsite).

Become an expert, valued and active member of a world class research team through participation in The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center's Research Nurse Residency Program. This is a first-of- its-kind program that prepares recent graduate nurses for the role of research nurse.

• 12-month RN residency program that trains new grads in the specialty role of a research nurse.

As a research nurse, the new graduate will coordinate, evaluate and follow patient participation in clinical trials while facilitating compliance to the research protocol and good clinical practice. Specific tasks associated with the role include participant recruitment and screening, patient assessment, coordination of protocol specific activity including treatment and tests, toxicity evaluation, collection of trial data and patient and family education.

Clinical research nursing is the specialized practice of professional nursing focused on maintaining equilibrium between care of the research participant and fidelity to the research protocol. This specialty practice incorporates human subjects protection; care coordination and continuity; contribution to clinical science; clinical practice; and study management throughout a variety of professional roles, practice settings, and clinical specialties. As a component of the formal nursing orientation process at MD Anderson, the Research Nurse Residency Program offers recent graduates a comprehensive and customized mix of clinical research orientation, leadership skills and social activities designed to build confidence, enhance professional relationships and ease the transition into the role of registered nurse.

Clinical Experience:
As a graduate nurse in the program, you will collaborate with clinical nursing instructors, clinical coaches and nurse managers to design a personalized pathway for your clinical development. Throughout the program, you will take part in MD Anderson's clinical nursing orientation and oncology-specialty orientation specific to assigned units.

Clinical Leadership and Socialization:
Those chosen for the program will be provided paid education days each month for classes and activities. One-on-one meetings are scheduled throughout the program to monitor progress and provide additional individualized support. Opportunities will be provided to create and enhance professional networks and relationships with peers and the nursing leadership team.

EDUCATION
Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Nursing.

Required: RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Upon Hire Required: BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
