Research Lab Associate II – 40 Hours – Days                                                                                                                                                                            Location: Detroit, MI – One Ford Place                                                                                                                                                                            Benefits: Eligible for Full Time Benefits

 

The individual in this role will be working on translational projects focused on understanding and identifying genetic players in lung carcinogenesis with aim to advance precision medicine for lung cancer patients. The team uses clinical specimens, in vitro cell line models, and patient-derived translational models for biomarker discovery and drug screening

Qualifications (specific to this title):

     Experience with molecular and/or cell biology work preferred.     Experience with cell culture work preferred     Experience in handling animal model (eg. Mice) preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities

Work under the direction of PI or Postdoctoral fellow on different research experiments. (40%)

Assist in collection and collation of research data under the supervision of PI or Postdoctoral Fellow. (25%)

Familiarize with current scientific literature in the field. (5%)

Assist in preparation of data for internal group meetings and/or scientific and academic conferences. (10%)

Maintain the laboratory work areas including routine maintenance on laboratory equipment as required. (10%)

Order and organize required research supplies and records. (10%)

Perform other related duties as assigned

 

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, the Research Lab Associate II is responsible for:

Developing and conducting moderately complex research experiments under the general direction of the Principal Investigator (PI).

Interprets data, identifies potential problems, and finds solutions.

Reads research literature in the field.

Conducts experiments and collects and analyzes data using various degrees of statistical methodology.

May train other lab members in experimental techniques.

Ensures compliance with animal care and occupational safety regulations.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, in a scientific discipline appropriate to the research department.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

One year of related post-baccalaureate experience in a research environment.

Highly motivated and organized.

Manual dexterity to operate complex equipment.

Familiarity with statistical and research methodology is desirable.
