**Responsibilities**
The Mayo Clinic Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to partner directly with the physician leader of our Longevity Research Program. The fellow will oversee ongoing studies and catalyze new, high-impact research focused on disease prevention, metabolic health, and biological aging within the Division of General Internal Medicine. This role is ideal for a scientist-physician or PhD-trained researcher who thrives in translational research, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and rigorous methodology
**About the Program**
The Longevity Research Program within General Internal Medicine integrates preventive imaging, metabolic phenotyping, aging biomarkers, and genomics to develop actionable, patient-centered models of healthspan extension. We emphasize rigorous methods, data-driven decision-making, and equitable implementation in clinical practice.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Research Leadership & Oversight
+ Lead day-to-day execution of active projects, including protocol adherence, recruitment, data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
+ Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams (clinical investigators, research coordinators, statisticians, data engineers) to achieve milestones on time and on budget.
+ Study Design & Innovation
+ Develop new research proposals aligned with program priorities in longevity science; write protocols, IRB submissions, and grant applications.
+ Apply cutting-edge methods (e.g., machine learning, multi-omics integration) to address clinically meaningful questions.
+ Data Management & Analysis
+ Build and maintain high-quality datasets; ensure data integrity, reproducibility, and compliance with institutional and federal regulations.
+ Collaborate closely with biostatistics and informatics partners.
+ Scholarly Output
+ Lead and co-author manuscripts in biomedical journals.
+ Present findings at national/international meetings.
+ Contribute to white papers, clinical practice guidance, and knowledge translation.
+ Regulatory & Compliance
+ Prepare and manage IRB submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews.
+ Uphold Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HIPAA, and institutional policies.
+ Mentorship & Team Culture
+ Mentor junior trainees (students, residents, research coordinators) in methods and rigor.
+ Foster an inclusive, collaborative environment.
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Upon background check and CCATS Executive Committee approval, Research Fellow may have patient/research subject contact directly relating to and incidental to the original research program. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
**Qualifications**
+ PhD in Epidemiology, Genomics/Computational Biology, Nutrition/Metabolism, Biostatistics, Biochemistry, Physiology, or related field.
+ Knowledge of research methods, including study design, protocol writing, IRB processes, and patient consent.
+ Demonstrated experience in clinical/translational research with strong methodological grounding.
+ Proficiency in statistical programming (e.g., R, Python, SAS) and data management.
+ Record of peer-reviewed publications commensurate with training stage.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
+ Able to learn new and use new computer programs
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience with imaging research (MRI), advanced biochemical analyses (NMR), aging biomarkers (epigenetic clocks), and/or genomics (PRS).
+ Familiarity with machine learning and risk prediction modeling.
+ Prior success with grant writing (e.g., NIH F/K series, foundation awards).
+ Working knowledge of REDCap and electronic health records (EHR) for cohort development.
