Responsibilities

The laboratory of Dr. Zhao is seeking a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Fellow to join our multidisciplinary research team at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. The successful candidate will contribute to innovative research focused on developing human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived models to investigate the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases and advance therapeutic strategies for disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body dementia, and other related dementias.

Research Focus:
•    Generation and differentiation of iPSCs into neural cell types (e.g., neurons, astrocytes, microglia) and cerebral organoids
•    Modeling genetic and sporadic forms of neurodegenerative disease
•    Developing and characterizing in vitro systems for drug screening and mechanistic studies
•    Collaborative integration with in vivo and clinical research programs

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.



Qualifications

Qualifications:
•    PhD in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field
•    Hands-on experience with human iPSC culture
•    Strong background in neurobiology, neurodegeneration, or stem cell technologies
•    Familiarity with CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, multi-omics analyses, or high-content imaging is a plus
•    Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment
