**Responsibilities**
**A Research Fellow position is available in the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases. The Post-Doc Research Fellow responsibilities will include, but not limited to:**
+ Working with novel cell penetrating peptides that target the lungs. We have a family of lung targeting peptides that target different cell types. Successful candidate will perform small animal (mice) experiments consisting of tail vein injections, havesting organs for ex-vivo IVIS imaging, cryoembedding, cryosectioning, immunostaining with various cell markers and performing confocal microscopy. He/she will also set up and perform routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals consisting of cell/tissue culture, RNA extraction, qPCR, FACS experiments.
+ Successful candidate will establish mouse models of smoke-induced chronic bronchitis, intubate mice, perform lung function studies, as well as perform RNA extraction for downstream RNA sequencing, etc. independently.
+ He/she will be responsible for maintaining lab notebooks, updating protocols, summarizing data, present at lab meetings, as well as institution-wide seminars, national and international meetings.
+ Assists in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies and placing orders.
+ Assist in manuscript preparation, submission etc. as lead author as well as helping write grants.
+ He/she will work under supervision and may perform their own experiments as lead investigator independently as discussed and approved by the Principal Investigator.
**Qualifications**
Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.

$64,079 - $74,963 / year; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
