The Purpose of the Science & Technology, Home care team is to provide Unilever with world class capability to develop next generation formats like powders, bars, liquids, capsule products with superior performance, great value, and sustainable technology.

Within the S&T, team is responsible for exploring upstream/novel process and product technologies. This includes the development of new analytical methodologies to create data spaces and digital models of previously unknown interactions. These technology insights are used to develop deep domain expertise that ultimately supports the formulation workstream delivering competitive advantage.

Role Purpose:

Working as a Global Home Care Research Executive (Formulation). The role requires individuals to develop a comprehensive understanding of formulation principles, as well as in-depth knowledge of chemicals and the interactions, specifically between materials, processes, and products in the home care sector. Areas of expertise should include colloids and interface science, surfactant chemistry etc.

This knowledge must then be translated into decisions, actions, and initiatives that align with and support the divisional strategy, targets, and plans. Formulation Chemists are not merely technology specialists; they are integrators who combine consumer and business needs into effective technical solutions.

About the Role:

2+ years’ experience in materials chemistry, polymers background either in FMCG or extended industries like Pharma

Experience in colloid/interface science and product engineering is preferred

Strong analytical including physio-chemical characterization is critical for this role.  

Work with international and interdisciplinary teams (Unilever R&D, Academics, material and equipment suppliers) to develop next generation solid formats.

Develop a deep understanding of how-to materials/process/structure products that deliver against consumer needs.

Generate ideas for new products and for improvement of existing products.

Must have a “hands-on” approach to pilot plant and laboratory scale-up activities. Need to be able to work in a safe, disciplined manner.

All about you:

BE, BTech in Materials Chemistry/Chemical Engineering with specialization in Materials/Polymer Science from reputed institutes

In depth knowledge of material science, thermodynamics, equipment principles and practices

Digital proficiency is must for this role

Computer literate and digital savvy (experience of DoE and statistical data analysis)

Project management (communication and presentation)

Experience in product/process development, and technology transfer desirable.
