What You'll Do

The Office of Marketing and Communications is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Research Content and Public Relations Specialist. You will serve as the lead content strategist focused on promoting the innovation and impact of the school's academic research. Additionally, you will support a coordinated earned media strategy to increase the visibility of our faculty thought leaders and academic degree programs. You will report to the director of communications.

Generous time off (Vacation, Holidays, Season Days)A retirement plan that provides two-for-one matching contributions with immediate vestingMany choices for comprehensive health insuranceLife insuranceLong-term disability coverageFlexible spending accounts for healthcare and dependent care expensesFlexible Work ProgramRoss Onsite Fitness CenterResponsibilities*Faculty Thought Leadership Strategy and ExecutionAssist in developing an annual strategic plan to amplify faculty research and expertise through owned and earned media channels.Develop/execute content marketing strategies to promote Michigan Ross faculty thought leaders through the school's podcast, news website, LinkedIn newsletter, and other university marketing channels.Write articles promoting faculty research, expertise, and recognition for Ross news page and other owned media channels.Launch/maintain web page for news media that promotes faculty expertise, industry insights and commentary on current trends in business and business education.Collaborate with public relations professionals across the school and university to promote Ross faculty thought leaders.Stay abreast of the latest digital marketing trends being used to optimize PR efforts, including AI, social media, SEO, and short-form video content.Compile and share faculty research, earned media mentions, and recognitions for quarterly reports.Earned Media Strategy and ExecutionRespond to information requests from the media about degree programs and coordinate interviews with Ross spokespeople, as needed.Handle various media outreach tasks to promote degree programs, including writing stories and message points, and facilitating interview requests.Build and maintain a media resources database with various materials, including backgrounders, fact sheets, and media contact lists.Additional DutiesOversee production process for the dean's "Down to Business" podcast.Assist with writing, copy editing, and publishing editorial content for the website.Assist with developing content for social media, as needed.Assist with other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications*A bachelor's degree and at least six years of experience in public/media relations, journalism, or a related field.Ability to clearly convey information and key messages to members of the news media.Demonstrated experience with writing and editing various multimedia content, especially related to media relations.Demonstrated ability to perform in a self-directed manner within a team-focused framework, sometimes on a quick turnaround.Familiarity with Associated Press style guidelines.Modes of Work

Additional Information

The posting range for this position is $67,700 to $87,300. This posting range reflects multiple factors involved in determining compensation, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and other organizational needs. At Ross, it is not common for new hires to be offered a salary at the upper end of the range. Compensation decisions are based on the details of each situation.
