**Position Summary**
Under the direction of the Chief Research Compliance Officer, the Research Compliance Administrator will provide cross-functional compliance support in all research compliance areas related to human research protections and animal protections. This role will be responsible for supporting the creation of policies, performing allegation and serious non-compliance audits, and evaluating and recommending procedural changes, systemic solutions, and community materials.
**Job Responsibilities**
+ Analyzes IRB, IACUC, IBC, RSC, etc. operations metrics for the Research Dean's office in support of process improvement initiatives.
+ Develops, orchestrates and conducts research training as required by the process improvement initiatives as part of the change management plan.
+ Supports internal and external quality assurance and research compliance auditing.
+ Exercises independent judgement in analysis of and proactively identifies areas and strategies for improvement.
+ Facilitates internal subcommittees, e.g. policy subcommittee, process improvement, etc. to assist with building the WCM research compliance.
+ Maintains an advanced working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and institutional policy and procedures to ensure the WCM are in compliance with applicable mandates.
+ Manages and facilitates systemic changes to the research by evaluating compliance needs across the institution.
+ Supports a community of practice for those who work to support human and animal research protections.
+ Advises on institutional compliance with the terms of the OHRP Federal Wide Assurance (FWA).
+ Performs other related duties as directed.
**Education**
+ Bachelor's Degree
**Experience**
+ MastersDegreeishighlydesired.
+ At least 5 years of direct experience in research quality assurance and process improvement, including past performance with business analysis, developing and analyzing business operations metrics in a research compliance or research administration office
+ Working knowledge of federal regulations and ethical standards for research with human and animal subjects, i.e. common rule, FDA regulations, OLAW, etc. is highly desired.
+ Advanced knowledge of federal and New York State regulations for research with human and animal subjects is preferred.
+ Ability to protect confidential documents and sensitive information, using judgment and discretion in sensitive matters.
+ Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work with limited supervision and serve as a strong team member.
+ Ability to conduct monitoring and auditing activities, including site visits, independently and competently.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
+ Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and answer inquiries that have a direct impact on the review process of human subjects research protocols.
+ Ability to perform multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
+ Demonstrated ability to perform against deadlines with frequent interruptions and competing priorities.
+ Overall understanding of institutional entities, policies, and relationships that affect IRB functioning.
**Licenses and Certifications**
+ Certified IRB Professional (CIP) REQUIRED
+ Certified Professional in IACUC Administration (CPIA)- preferred
